However, knowing BA's penchant for a 4 class cabin across their international fleet and their attraction to WT+ / Premium Economy fares, I would suggest that a configuration closer to : 1. B777-300ER with < 292 passengers in 4 classes and 2. A380-800 with 450-455 passengers in 4 classes might be far more appropriate as a comparitive measure ? BA is looking at becoming the only < 400 seater A380 operator. And any BA 77W would be lucky to have anything more than 275 seats in the four class configuration. |

QUOTE 14/10/2007
British Airways has turned to China to find debt financing for its purchase of 36 new planes, in a ground-breaking deal that marks the first move by Chinese institutions into the multi-billion pound aircraft leasing industry. The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) is understood to have been one of the lead debt providers on the BA aircraft deal. The bank received approval from the Chinese regulators to set up an international leasing operation one week before BA placed its order for 12 Airbus A380s and 24 Boeing 787s. One aviation industry source said: "These are the first aircraft that have been bought where Chinese banks have taken a front-line position in the debt structure, outside their domestic market." Chinese banks, which are awash with cash from the country's huge trade surplus, have extensive experience in financing the country's domestic fleet of airlines. Although Chinese airlines are collectively due to take delivery of one aircraft every three days over the next five years, the Chinese banks are known to be keen to get involved in international leasing deals. -------------------- |
