Boeing has released an updated Airport Compatibility Brochure for the 787 family, dated December 2009. This replaces the one released in September 2007.

Changes Include:

787-3 MTOW rises 5t from 165t to 170t
787-8 MTOW rises 8t from 220t to 228t
787-9 MTOW rises 2t from 245t to 247t

787-9 wingspan shrinks from 64m to 60m, matching the 787-8. I've been hearing for years that the 787 wing performed better than expected in wind tunnel and CFD testing, so this might be confirmation aerodynamics look better than expected.

787-3 fuel capacity rises ~6500 liters (41,965 to 48,567)
787-8 fuel capacity remains 126, 917 liters
787-9 fuel capacity decreases ~12,500 liters and is now less than the 787-8 (138,898 to 125,539). Not sure if this is a mistake.

The Seattle Times this morning published an interview with 787 chief project engineer Mike Delaney who insisted that the target empty weight of the 787-8 has not risen the past two years. Boeing has not released the OEW of the plane, though in 2006 internal Boeing documents showed "empty weight" (whether this is MWE or OEW is not given) was 108 tons and in the 2007 ACAP, the OEW was given as 115 tons, He did concede that the first large structures were heavier than projected.
