With all due respect Kim, AA doesn't have any 773ER's.
kimshep
Feb 23 2006, 11:55 PM
Yep, I know. AA just has only the B777-300's but I was including
both derivitives in my summation. Maybe it was the way I had typed it. I usually tend to use the methodology of B747-438/ER to include
both the B747-438
and the B747-438ER. And you'll note (from the following line underneath) that I nominated the B747-438ER - obviously a Qantas 'special' - specifically (as opposed to including the generic B747-400, or QF's B747-438). Hence the use of 'B777-300/ER' terminology. Sorry, if that was not clear.

Has to be a Boeing. Check out my Name and my image at left, but contary to the obvious 787 links, for me it's the 747. I love travelling on it, love the way it looks and the revived future the '8' holds and also what it represents to the industry both 30 years or so ago as well as today. (how's that for a run-on sentence

)
Only downside for me are the queues at check-in, customs, inside the Aircraft at disembarking time and at the baggage carousels. Hence my cringing at the thought of the 380.
Maybe the 787 a while into service.
Until then "Viva la Queen of the Skies"
P.S. Oops, just noticed the title. Of course it has to be a Boeing

767, even though Calista Flockhart probably has trouble fitting her tiny derriere into the seats on the plane. Quiet, nice ride, never had a bad experience in my multiple on 767-2/300s.

In order of preference 773ER, 757 then 744. Why?
The 773ER just impresses the hell outta me with its capability.
The 757 is a rocketship and an absolute blast on takeoff.
The 744 because of the sheer size of the thing, its grace and
when equipped with the RB211 engines that wonderful noise on takeoff!

Boeing 777-200ER - a milestone for aviation technology, and so modern it will never grow old!
However I cannot say the same for the 727, Boeing just got bored, stuck some metal together, and gave it a good kick up the arse to get it airborne.

Wish I could've caught a ride on some of the latest Boeing has to offer, but the 777 A series I was on awhile back was real nice. I admit, I'm not a big fan of the 747 and the 3-4-3 seating arrangement in Y, but damn that plane looks sweet! Though, the best Boeing ride IMO is the 767. The 787 will no doubt take top spot once it comes out (and I get to fly on it).

Wow, KIMSHEP...the B742. I'm impressed, really!!!
I so wanted to fly on one of NWA's last B742 in service today- in the premium cabin upstairs, just so I could videotape myself walking up that spiral staircase.
However, plans fell through because NW is currently operating the B742 on LAX-NRT-HKG and return (flights 1 & 2) and those premium seats have jumped in costs- way way out of my budget.
However, and don 't you laugh now, Orient Thai has a premium cabin in their B742 (and I believe they still operate 2 B741 but I'm not positive). I may bite the bullet and purchase a "premium" ticket with those guys...just to sit in the upper deck of those old jumbo jets!
I know, I know......I'm totally nuts. But consider this...those monsters will not be in service anywhere much longer so I might as well go for it.
Cheers,
MIKEY

Favorite Boeing Aircraft? Wow...
Gotta be the B707. *The* jet aircraft that started it all. And what a beautiful beautiful machine she is- interior and exterior.
As mentinoned elsewhere, my favorite flying experience of all time was on a LADE (Argentina) B707-300 in summer (their winter) 2005. Yes, 2005!!! That was the very last B707 flying in revenue pax service in the free world today.
But at least I flew on her......twice!!!
An honorable mention for the B747-100, 200 and 400. The -300 series never caught on with me although, I did fully appreciate my Christmas 2004 QF flight between PER and SIN on a B743. I am not sure of my first flight on the B747 (probably in the mid-1980s) but always fond of this big bird.
Can't forget the beloved B727-100/200 or the B737-200 (primarily for it's cuteness.....strangely, I don't find the similarly-sized B735 quite as adorable- hate the over-sized engines).
That about covers it for Boeing.
Cheers,
MIKE

Nicest Boeing I've been on so far has been the 777-236 British Airways, and the 737-7H4 of Southwest.
I enjoyed the 777 as I got a small upgrade to World Traveller Plus and the Southwest aircraft were clean, quiet and comfortable, compared to some 737's I've been on (Notably Britannia's old 200's!)

Hmmm well there's a couple:
757-200 - great aircraft, expecially on take-off where nothing comes close.
747-400 - especially if you've got a flat bed in business class upstairs
And an honourable mention to the 707 - such a beautidul looking bird.

Over the last few months I have been going to Manchester Airport EGCC to view the planes landing and taking off. I am quite new to the world of aircraft and aviation. For me, it's a question of...which 777 is my favorite?!
I like the 777-200LR a lot...a fantastic plane to be sure...the top choice usually...but I have tio give it to...
the 777-300ER...massive, long, superperformer, a 772ER with a whole lot more length. And those raked wingtips flatter the long lines quite well too. Love that plane.
772ER/772, very nice, and 773 pretty good too.
I love the 773ER the most though, maybe if I get a chance to fly the 772LR I might change my mind, but the 773ER is FANTASTIC!
Before the 777, my favorite by far was the 747-400, and then the 767 and 727. I also had a soft spot for the 747-300...

The 757-200 has always been a favorite. From a guy's perspective, what's not to love; slender body, long legs and huge ................ engines. (This is best delivered ála Monty Python's "huge tracts of land.")
While it's not been mentioned before, and no, I've never flown one, might I recommend the Model 314. Seeing the old photos of one taxiing on the step just warms my heart.

Interesting what you say about the 767
KZ. There has been much discussion recently about the 787 and proposed 350 and references to the 767 about how it was a 'nothing' size as far as freight and ability to use the fuselage cross section for other applications but, you have to say that from a pax perspective, it's pretty damn good with that seating arrangement and for boarding/deplaning.

I couldn't agree more! I absolutely love the 752 - and flying on it last week from EWR-MIA and back on AA was a real treat

Especially on the return as the plane was fairly empty (pax-wise), so take-off was even more of a thrill!!

Agreed a loaded question. Personally I don't think I have met a Boeing that I didn't like.
AA doesn't have any 777-300's (in either version, I live in the DFW area, all they have are 200/200ER's).
From a pilot's perspective I really love the 727-100 and -200 (I have over 1,200 hours in 727's as a copilot and flight engineer). Great handling airplane, solid on the controls, very forgiving, fast when you want it to be, and slow and stable on approach. The 737-200adv, which I also have over 1,000 hours on was nice to fly, but the controls felt more sloppy than on the 727.
From a general perspective my favorite Boeings are the 727 (both the 100 & 200 no airplane looks sexier, whether sitting on the ramp, or coming in to land, imho). The 757-200 (the 300 is too long), the 747 (any variant) and the 777-200 series.

KS

I’ve got to put in a bid for the 727-200. It’s what Alaska Air flew out of Southeast when I was a kid. A couple of years ago I rode on a Northwest 727 with cramped seats and a stuffy cabin. I loved it.
Similarly (although not Boeing), I enjoyed flying the TU-154 in and out of Vladivostok. “Ladies and Gentlemen, we are cleared for takeoff as soon as the plane is de-iced” pause “Ladies and Gentlemen, I have great news, the captain has declined de-icing, and we will be taking off immediately.”
